San Pablo Avenue Traffic Safety Walk
When: 5-6pm Tuesday, November 5, 2019
Where: Meet at Dwight and San Pablo, walk to University Ave
Why: Discuss road safety challenges and opportunities on San Pablo Avenue.
Connect with other Walk Bike Berkeley members, chat about walking and biking in Berkeley, learn about our work, and get more involved. Weather permitting, we'll be in the back patio.
If you want to make a whole night of Walk Bike Berkeley fun, walk with us from happy hour to the City Council meeting (BUSD Board Room, 1231 Addison) to support the Bicycle Lane and Pedestrian Street Improvements Policy (item 41 on the agenda), also known as the Berkeley Initiative to Build Improvements for Mobility, Bicycles, and Pedestrians (BIBIMBAP). Fair warning: it might be a long wait until Council takes up the item.
Join us on Wednesday, May 8 from 7:45am - 9:00am at Dwight & California to help people walk and bike safely across this problem intersection. The city has allocated funding to fix this bicycle boulevard intersection, but the project has languished. A simple stop sign would do the trick at this and several other bicycle boulevard intersections!
We’ll do the following to draw attention to the need to pick of the pace of this and other bicycle and pedestrian safety projects.
Station volunteers at each corner of the intersection.
Enter the crosswalks to stop traffic when people need to walk or bike across Dwight.
Tell people about Walk Bike Berkeley and collect petition signatures.
Can’t make it? Sign the petition.
Join Walk Bike Berkeley for our first 2019 gathering! This will be a joint meeting with the Transportation Working Group of the Berkeley Climate Action Coalition.
The agenda will likely include discussion of Walk Bike Berkeley's and TWG's goals, how we're setting up Walk Bike Berkeley, and input for Walk Bike Berkeley's 2019 priorities.
Join us for our upcoming happy hour! Meet folks and learn about what we are working on.
